Known as the "Back to Earth Compost Crew," they aim to keep food waste out of landfills and back into the soil.

Founder and Owner Colleen Falicki explained that they work with various establishments to transform food waste into compost, which is then given back to customers twice a year to fertilize their plants.

What Would You Do? A Neighborhood Dilemma

Imagine this scenario.

You step outside on a sunny morning, coffee in hand, ready to enjoy your backyard. Instead, youโ€™re met with a mess: bird droppings splattered across your patio furniture, coating your deck, and streaking down your car. Again. The clean-up has become part of your routine, but no matter how often you scrub, the problem keeps returning.

The reason? Pigeons. Not just a few โ€” dozens. Sometimes 40 or 50 at a time.

A nearby neighbor regularly puts out large amounts of feed, drawing flocks of pigeons into the area day after day. The birds roost nearby, perch on roofs and railings, and leave behind significant amounts of droppings that impact surrounding properties. Outdoor spaces are harder to use, maintenance costs add up, and concerns about cleanliness and property damage grow.

Youโ€™ve tried to find help. Calls to local agencies lead nowhere. Youโ€™re told that feeding birds isnโ€™t illegal. Health officials wonโ€™t intervene. Wildlife authorities say pigeons arenโ€™t protected, but also wonโ€™t take action. Township officials explain that itโ€™s a civil matter between neighbors.

So now what?

This is where weโ€™d like you to pause and step into the shoes of the affected property owner.

What would you do in this situation?

Would you try again to reason with the neighbor despite their refusal to talk to you? Install deterrents and hope for the best? Seek mediation? Consult an attorney? Ignore it and adapt? Or take a completely different approach?

This isnโ€™t about assigning blame โ€” itโ€™s about real-world problem-solving when systems donโ€™t offer clear answers. Situations like this raise questions about personal responsibility, neighborly coexistence, and where individual rights intersect with community impact.

We want to hear from you.

If you were dealing with this ongoing nuisance at your own home, how would you handle it? What advice would you offer? What solutions

would you explore?
